Cyber Cat!

Finished the colouring work on this one, think it looks a little less sinister than its previous versions.

Iron Man (Not the Marvel one) / Christmas mash-up!

This was a quick Christmas poster I knocked up for the Year 4 class I was working with this time last year. They'd been reading The Iron Man (Iron GIant in the US), by Ted Hughes, with illustrations by Andrew Davidson. I loved this book so much as a kid, so it was a treat to work with it in school, and to do this tribute to Davidson's distinctive woodcut-style illustrations.

And just in case you're wondering, I do have some stuff of the other Iron Man.

So, this is my way of saying Merry Christmas!

Face sketches

I've been doing some facial sketches, so I thought I'd share them here.

Dr. D Devilish

This is a picture my sister asked me to do. In my mind, despite his name, he's not actually such a bad guy, no matter how his name sounds.

Acquisition, Page 6

So, here it is, page 6 of Acquisition. I'm enjoying learning from my mistakes on this, and hopeing that I'll have come up with some really good new ones by the time I'm done. Should be only 2 pages and a cover left, unless plans change. Again.

But I'm sure that won't happen.

Cyber Cat pencils

Pencils for a picture I'm working on. I've really been enjoying doing cyborg / robot pictures, so I thought I'd try an animal-style one.

Street Art Superheroes

So, here's the finished experiment:
I take a lot of photos of street art, so I thought I'd try to mix the two visual arts I tend to do stuff with.

Actually, that's about it. I'm quite happy with it, and I'll probably try a few more. Hope you like it.

A quick Superhero battle

This is a picture I did quickly because I had an experiment I want to try. Before I get that far, though, I'm pretty happy with this superhero / Battledriod showdown.

Acquisition Page 6, finished inks

So, a combination of inks...
and a little computer blocking in the black bits, and here's the black and white of page 6...

Acquisition Page 6, first inks

Finished the first pass of inking on page 6, so there's some outlining and blocking black areas to go. Again, finding the A3 scanner great to use.

New Acquisition Pencils - Page 6

It's been a while since I was able to get back to Acquisition, plus this page was giving me a bit of a headache as to how I laid it out.
ANYWAY, I settled on this arrangement, and got the pencils finished.

Also, I'm loving the new A3 scanner my wife got me. I was able to do a quick scan of the inks I've done today, and put them up. Previously this would have taken about half an hour of scanning A4 size and trying to stitch the pieces together in Photoshop, and now it is the work of mere minutes.

So, yay.

New header

Now, this is a weird one. I don'treally have to put a new blog entry up for it, because, well, if you're on the site, you can see it.

It's right there.

Go on, look up the top, I'll wait for you to come back.

...

OK?

So, I did want to post about it, because, well, it took me a while to do, and I'm pretty happy with it, and I've been meaning to do it for a while. First of all, here was the first draft, which didn't have the Art Nouveau feel I wanted to go for (you know, to fit in with my stuff like l'ermitage and The Gentleman)

And here's the black and white version of it, which I rearranged and coloured.

The Gentleman is finished

Now, granted, I probably spent at least 2 days longer than I need to, fixing little imperfections in the colouring and shading that were bugging me, but sod it! I'm pretty happy with this finished product.

Gentleman-lier

So, I've inked my picture of the Gentleman from a couple of days ago. Instead of a dip pen, like I normally use, this was with some nice pens I've got, and I'm pretty happy with it.Next up is shading, followed by colour.

The Gentleman

A new image I've been working on, at the pencilling stage. Like Summer and L'ermitage, this is an Art Nouveau style, but with the sci-fi Cybernouveau steampunky angle I like.

Meet Phillippe

A new rabbit for you.
Phillippe - He is Pierre's cousin. He came looking for him when he left France.
He has an obsession for French sticks and steals them from the Bakery across he road. He lives in a  burrow at the top of the yard. He is melancholy, though he does drink coffee to cheer him up. The others know he can't live without his toothpick, which he chews on constantly. He has a lucky beret.

Pierre the Rabbit

Here is another character from the Mr Bones post I put up a while ago.

The text, by my wife, reads,
Pierre is a lonely, yet guarded rabbit. He carries a knife with him at all times (how he lost his eye). He is from the forest of Auvergne, though he hopped the Eurostar to London one dreary day..
He found his way to the Southwest, where he made his home an unsuspecting graveyard.
One day after making his home in 'Martha Tanwither 1894-1915', he encountered Mr Bones, the confident though slightly uppity fox.
